Job Summary

The Surgical Tech- First Assist position at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is a critical role that requires a high level of skill and expertise. As a Surgical Tech- First Assist, you will work closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth execution of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain sterile operative fields and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Assist healthcare practitioners during surgery and provide support as needed.
  • Position patients for treatment or examination and protect them using safety equipment.
  • Orient new staff to the unit and provide education on surgical procedures.
  • Provide 2 Inservice Education offerings yearly and cross-train to another department.
  • Maintain a safe environment and report any environmental hazards or patient safety concerns.
Requirements
  • Certification as CFA or CSA.
  • BLS certification prior to independently caring for patients.
  • 5 years of clinical experience.
Working Conditions

Lifting, moving, and loading 30 to 50 pounds. Alternate shift schedules (day, evening, nights, weekends).
