Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms, working closely with surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel to provide exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a sterile environment and ensure the proper handling of medical equipment and supplies.
  • Assist healthcare practitioners during surgery, positioning patients for treatment or examination, and protecting patients or staff members using safety equipment.
  • Orient new staff to the unit and specific specialty, maintaining a safe environment and complying with NLH policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as requested, including maintaining inventory of medical supplies or equipment and reporting environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol.
Requirements

Certification as a Surgical Technologist is required, or LPN with surgical tech experience. BLS certification is also required and must be obtained prior to independently caring for patients. A graduate of an approved Certified Surgical Technician Program or other approved technical program is preferred.

Working Conditions

This role requires lifting, moving, and loading 30 to 50 pounds, as well as working alternate shift schedules, including day, evening, nights, and weekends.
