Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms, working closely with surgeons, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel to provide exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain aseptic conditions and ensure the sterility of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures, providing support and maintaining a safe and efficient operating environment.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring they are in good working order and easily accessible.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff members to the operating room and surgical team.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient working environment, adhering to Northern Light Health policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with surgical tech experience.
  • Graduate of an approved Certified Surgical Technician Program or other approved technical program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, to be obtained prior to independently caring for patients.
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to lift, move, and load 30 to 50 pounds, as well as work alternate shift schedules, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
