About the Opportunity

The Chair of Psychiatry at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center and Chief Medical Officer of MaineHealth Behavioral Health position presents a unique chance for a physician executive to drive priorities in behavioral healthcare, advance educational and research programs, and lead clinical, teaching, and research initiatives in one of the nation's most innovative and advanced behavioral health systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and lead the clinical, teaching, and research initiatives of the Department of Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
  • Supervise specialized treatment and research programs, including the Developmental Disorders Program at the Glickman Lauder Center of Excellence.
  • Lead the overall clinical operations of Behavioral Health Services, including the 100-bed Spring Harbor Hospital, and psychiatric services throughout the MaineHealth system.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have successful and progressive leadership experience in a Medical Director, Division Chief, Associate Chair or Chair role gained within a major teaching hospital or academic medical center environment, ideally as part of an integrated delivery system and/or within the context of a larger health system with a strong academic infrastructure.

This leader should be academically eligible for Associate Professor or Professor faculty appointment at the Tufts University School of Medicine.

MD/DO degree or equivalent, and appropriate Board Certification are requirements.

This includes Spring Harbor Hospital, the only nonprofit psychiatric hospital in southern Maine with 100 beds, along with four community mental health agencies.
