About the Role

MaineHealth is seeking an experienced and collaborative healthcare executive to serve as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland. As a key member of the leadership team, the COO will lead and develop a talented team in day-to-day operations, budget development and implementation, financial performance, and quality performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team to drive operational excellence
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives
  • Collaborate with system leaders, service line leaders, and peers to drive operational performance
  • Manage complex budgets and financial performance
  • Ensure high-quality care delivery and patient satisfaction

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, MHA, MSN, MPH)
  • Five years of management experience in a C-Level role for a 400+ bed acute care medical center or health center
  • Previous experience in a teaching hospital environment and working in a highly matrixed environment
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets
  • Excellent values-based communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
