We are looking for a dedicated Lab Manager to oversee the strategic initiatives and daily operations of our engineering laboratories, focusing on safety, security, and compliance with established protocols. The ideal candidate will exhibit creativity and innovation, coupled with strong organizational and analytical skills. Collaboration with clients, team members, and leadership is essential for implementing effective process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Oversee multiple engineering laboratories and storage facilities, including classified areas.
  • Manage Lab Operating Procedures (LOPs) and guide lab personnel on compliance policies.
  • Ensure calibration schedules and records for testing equipment are maintained.
  • Lead preparation for audits and assessments, including conducting internal audits and developing corrective action plans.
  • Execute Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) on returned systems and verify readiness of test equipment.
  • Assist in documentation, data collection, and the preparation of technical reports.
  • Perform routine laboratory tasks to support professional staff.
  • Compile monthly reports and create presentation materials.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, providing expert guidance and problem-solving.
  • Update and maintain work instructions and Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs).
  • Commit to Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) standards by ensuring compliance with regulations and addressing unsafe conditions.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools effectively (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Demonstrate experience in engineering lab environments focusing on safety, security, and compliance.
  • Exhibit attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Apply critical thinking to interpret engineering schematics and reports.
  • Manage time efficiently across various administrative responsibilities.
  • Safeguard classified materials and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Meet physical demands of the role, including standing and moving light equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Certifications:

  • Associate's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or equivalent experience.

Clearance Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position, as it necessitates obtaining a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • An active DoD Secret level Security Clearance is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 2 years of experience in DoD closed-area operations.
  • Familiarity with NISPOM regulations and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment while managing multiple projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Previous lab management experience with inventory control.
  • Knowledge of Windows PC management and networking.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical skills.
