Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer II to join our Public Utilities team at the City of Chesapeake. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for utilizing your engineering expertise to ensure the effective design, construction, and maintenance of our water and sanitary sewer systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze construction plans and calculations for water and sanitary sewer systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, letters, and other documentation to provide clear and concise information to developers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to construction inspectors and other team members on Public Utilities-related engineering issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the City's standards.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license desired.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with developers, engineers, and contractors.
