Position Overview:

The Retail Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role in assisting the store manager with daily activities to maximize profitability, ensure the safety of both customers and staff, and foster a team that delivers Exceptional Customer Service (ECS) that keeps our customers returning.

This position entails stepping in as the General Manager when necessary and performing the duties of a Sales Associate when the General Manager is present.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the General Manager to maintain operational records and generate daily reports. Work closely with the Store Auditing Team to address issues, update information, and ensure the accuracy of daily reports as required.
  • Review shift reports completed by Sales Associates, ensuring all reports and funds reconcile according to company policy. Train employees on cash handling and shift reporting procedures.
  • Conduct routine inventory counts for specific items as necessary.
  • Partner with the GM to ensure high-quality merchandising of store products and an appealing presentation of store facilities.
  • Stay informed about monthly promotions, sale items, and advertisements, and communicate these to the entire team.
  • Ensure all product promotions are updated and effectively displayed through internal and external signage and POS materials. Maintain vendor product displays and update promotional signs as needed.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring products are well-stocked and presented attractively.
  • Monitor gas pricing in the local area twice daily or as required, reporting findings to corporate as necessary.
  • Assist the GM in staffing the store appropriately on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Address and document employee performance issues, ensuring all documentation is forwarded to Human Resources for accurate record-keeping.
  • Adhere to and enforce all safety, security, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and presentable facility in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and resolve complaints effectively.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Develop and motivate a team of up to 25 employees, fostering relationships and utilizing workforce skills as directed by the General Manager.
  • Effectively merchandise and manage store operations.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by creating a "customer-centric" environment (ECS).
  • Maintain a consistent set of standards for the workforce.
  • Adjust priorities and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Keep accurate employee records and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, listening attentively and providing instructions to all staff.
  • Exhibit strong administrative and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; management experience preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy (e.g., Back Office System, Word, email).
  • ServSafe food service certification may be required for certain locations.
  • Availability to be on call when acting as Store Manager.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities.
  • Capability to resolve employee conflicts or customer complaints as they arise.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with associates, upper management, and customers.
