POET has created a fast track to technical leadership through our Progressive Leadership Development Program (Engineering Leadership Advancement Program).

This initiative will immerse you in POET's culture, provide varied experiences, enhance your technical skills, and prepare you for a future leadership position at POET.

The objective is to deliver a focused program that guarantees exposure to responsibilities aimed at achieving readiness for a leadership role in approximately six years.

This is a distinctive career advancement opportunity that may take years to accomplish with other organizations.

This program will familiarize you with the dynamics of POET's operations as you transition through progressive roles. You will cultivate meaningful relationships while contributing to a mission that changes the world. As you advance through the program phases, relocation will be necessary to access these positions.

This will involve mobility between bioprocessing facilities, allowing you to learn from various leaders and mentors along the way.

POET will assist with your relocation to each site.

The program is structured to ensure progression to the next phase based on individual readiness and targeted growth.

Typical roles and expected timelines include:


Operations Engineer at our headquarters, focusing on understanding POET's operations support model and the bioprocessing structure while assisting the bioprocessing facilities.

(~3-6 months)

Plant Technician on one of our bioprocessing facility teams, gaining insights into bioprocessing operations.

This invaluable experience will deepen your understanding of POET's bioprocessing technology, serving as a foundation for your future development.

(~6 months)

Plant Engineer supporting your assigned region's biosystems. In this capacity, you will enhance your engineering skills in operations, technology, and project management, leading significant capital projects along with technology design and implementation. (~24 months)

Operations Supervisor, managing one of our bioprocessing teams in executing daily operations at the plant. This role will provide your initial exposure to the responsibilities of team leadership. Responsibilities will encompass supervision, safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, along with in-depth learning of bioprocessing technology and operations. (~12 months)


Ultimately, you will be positioned in a Bioprocessing Managerial Role, where you will have departmental responsibility for a larger team, developing advanced leadership skills.

This role will expose you to financial considerations, HR aspects, team member development, and the challenges and rewards associated with leading an entire department.

(~24 months)

This pathway will provide the experiences, training, and exposures necessary to prepare you for a senior-level engineering or operational role within one of POET's numerous bioprocessing teams or related business units.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
A recent graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Chemical, Process, Agricultural, Biosystems, or Mechanical Engineering.

You are open and willing to relocate.

You possess the technical aptitude to learn and comprehend bioprocessing technology.

You can compile, analyze, and interpret data effectively.

You communicate proficiently in both written and verbal forms.

You have the ability to grasp the technical and operational aspects of a bioprocessing facility.

You are familiar with Microsoft Office Suite and are capable of learning new software applications.

You are driven by a desire for continuous learning and personal development.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

POET bioprocessing facilities operate on a 24/7 schedule, requiring team members to be available as needed.

The work environment at our bioprocessing facilities is dynamic.

Expect a blend of office work and time spent in the bioprocessing facility, which may involve physical labor to support your team members.


You may encounter elevated noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, varying internal and external temperatures, and chemicals.


Work conditions will vary as you progress through the program, with specific physical requirements differing by role. These may include:

Occasionally lifting weights up to sixty (60) pounds

Climbing multiple flights of stairs and ladders

Occasionally bending, twisting, and turning while lifting weights of less than fifty (50) pounds

Data entry while seated for extended periods

Walking up to two (2) or more miles daily

Working at heights, in confined spaces, and in temperatures ranging from -20 to +100 degrees

Standing for prolonged periods

Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Utilizing hand and power tools
