Job Summary

  • MaineHealth is seeking a Child Life Specialist to provide developmentally appropriate services to pediatric patients in designated areas. This role requires a strong understanding of child development and the ability to support patients and families during healthcare experiences.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and support patients' understanding of healthcare experiences, emotional support, pain and/or anxiety management, socialization, developmental needs, coping styles, and family/parent/sibling support.
  • Develop and implement child life interventions in individual or group settings, based on patient and family needs and a multidisciplinary care plan.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and support to patients and families.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in Child Life or related field.
  • License/Certifications: Association of Child Life Professionals Certification Certified Child Life Specialist (earned or within 1 year of hire).
  • Experience: 1 year of child life experience preferred.
