Position Overview

We are currently seeking a driven Associate Director, Accounting to oversee and enhance the accounting, analysis, and reporting functions within the organization. This role will be pivotal in managing the financial close processes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring compliance with established standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the financial close process to guarantee timely and precise completion in line with U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare detailed analyses, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for complex accounting areas, including partnership accounting and clinical trials.
  • Review and validate journal entries and reconciliations prepared by team members.
  • Collaborate with external partners to facilitate quarterly invoicing and respond to information requests.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of internal controls and policies to ensure the integrity of financial statements.
  • Conduct research on technical accounting issues and prepare comprehensive analyses to support accounting guidance and its implications for the organization.
  • Identify and implement best practices to improve operational efficiency.
  • Engage with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support for audits.
  • Support ad hoc compliance reporting, including tax returns and statutory audits.
  • Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech sector is preferred.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Big 4 accounting or auditing firm is desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of clinical trial processes and their financial implications is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with SAP ByDesign is a plus.
  • Experience in supervising team members is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Capacity to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
