As a Medical Radiographer-MRI at SUNY Upstate Medical University, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting requests and instructions from physicians concerning MRI examination techniques. You will determine body regions and projections to be undertaken, greet patients, explain procedures, and reassure anxious and distressed patients. You will guide and position patients before and during examinations to obtain the required views.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate MRI equipment by setting controls and making adjustments using guidelines and standard procedures as directed by physicians. Procure the required images while ensuring proper positioning, technique factors, and resource utilization. Supervise junior and student technologists, and provide orientation to new staff members. Maintain clinical competencies of staff and advise on procedures and techniques. Coordinate patient flow to various scan rooms and review patient schedules to achieve maximum efficiency. Report equipment malfunctions and work with radiographic students on equipment use and maintenance.
Requirements:
AAS in Radiologic Technology or equivalent, NYS license/registration (must obtain within 6 months of receiving limited permit), and ARRT (must obtain within 1 year of appointment). One year experience as a radiologic technologist, plus current CPR-BLS certification required. Registration certification for Contrast Injection required (must obtain within 3 months of appointment).
