Position Overview
The primary objective of this role is to deliver critical administrative functions, technical expertise, and strategic guidance as outlined.

This position is pivotal in enhancing Fluor's market position globally by providing superior services characterized by exceptional value and technical proficiency.

As an Area Lead or Lead on designated projects, this role entails executing complex engineering tasks, assessing, selecting, and implementing advanced engineering methodologies across a diverse range of intricate assignments.


  • Formulate and assess project estimates and timelines, including workforce projections
  • Establish, monitor, and analyze key material quantities; deliver insights and forecasts
  • Draft and evaluate specifications, including design parameters
  • Engage in activities related to procurement of equipment and materials, permitting, and subcontracting
  • Conduct and verify calculations, specify equipment, and resolve complex engineering challenges
  • Contribute to personnel development through mentoring, creating training materials, leading training sessions, and providing performance evaluation input and guidance
  • Analyze and independently recommend solutions to varying complexity problems in alignment with organizational and project objectives and standards
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Essential Qualifications

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline and ten (10) years of relevant work experience; recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field may be required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to meet local regulations
  • Proficient communication skills with diverse audiences including management, colleagues, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
  • Technical knowledge pertinent to the role
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of relevant local, state/province, and federal/national regulations and guidelines
  • Attention to detail and capability to work efficiently and effectively within time constraints
  • Preferred professional registration and membership in relevant technical societies
  • Advanced understanding of discipline codes and standards, as well as the commercial availability and pricing of materials
  • Experience in effort-hour estimation and staff forecasting
  • Leadership experience in managing large-scale projects
  • Proficiency in project initiation, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project completion
  • Practical field experience
  • Intermediate skills in computer software including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation programs

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and anhydrous ammonia pipelines.
  • Experience with cryogenic product pipelines.
  • Experience with high-temperature product pipelines.
  • Familiarity with regional design codes such as BS, CSA, ISO, DNV, etc.

Additional Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline design codes ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and their CFR equivalents.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pipeline material standards and the creation of data sheets.
  • Expertise in developing pipeline material, construction, and design specifications.
  • Proficient in pipeline design software.
  • Advanced skills in quality assurance of pipeline drawings, including alignment sheets, detailed crossing drawings, and typical drawings.
  • Knowledgeable in supporting regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and land acquisition processes.
  • Familiarity with pipeline constructability and appropriate crossing methodologies.
  • Proficient in supporting GIS applications.
