Position Overview
The objective of this role is to deliver critical administrative functions, technical expertise, and guidance as outlined.
This position is accountable for enhancing Fluor's market position globally by providing exceptional services characterized by unparalleled quality and technical proficiency.
This role may function as an Area Lead or Lead on designated projects or tackle complex engineering tasks, assessing, selecting, and implementing advanced engineering methodologies across a diverse range of intricate assignments.
- Formulate and evaluate estimates and timelines, progress updates, including workforce projections
- Establish, monitor, and analyze key material quantities; provide assessments and forecasts
- Draft and assess specifications, including design standards
- Engage in activities related to equipment and material acquisition, permitting, and subcontracting
- Execute and verify calculations, specify equipment, and resolve issues of significant engineering complexity
- Contribute to personnel development through mentoring, creation of training materials, conducting educational seminars, and performance evaluation input and guidance
- Assess and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems of varying complexity in alignment with organizational and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Essential Qualifications
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in an engineering discipline and ten (10) years of relevant experience; recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if necessary; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local regulations
- Effective communication skills with diverse audiences including management, colleagues, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Technical knowledge relevant to the job requirements
- Capacity to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national regulations and guidelines
- Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently within time constraints
- Professional registration and membership in a technical society (preferred)
- Advanced understanding of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability, and material costs
- Estimating effort-hours and forecasting staffing needs
- Leading and managing large-scale projects
- Project initiation, development of control-level schedules, progress tracking, and project closure
- Practical field experience
- Intermediate proficiency in computer and software applications including word processing, email, spreadsheets, and presentation software
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and anhydrous ammonia pipelines.
- Experience with cryogenic product pipelines.
- Experience with high-temperature product pipelines.
- Familiarity with regional design codes such as BS, CSA, ISO, DNV, etc.
Additional Job Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of pipeline design codes ASME B31.4, ASME B31.8, and CFR equivalents.
- Comprehensive understanding of pipeline material standards and the creation of data sheets.
- Extensive knowledge in developing pipeline material, construction, and design specifications.
- Proficient in pipeline design software.
- Advanced skills in quality assurance of pipeline drawings for alignment sheets, detailed crossing drawings, and typical drawings.
- Familiarity with supporting regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and land acquisition processes.
- Understanding of pipeline constructability and appropriate crossing methodologies.
- Proficient in supporting GIS applications.
