With a focus on excellence and fostering strong agency relationships, our Sales and Marketing division is seeking a property and casualty field territory underwriter. In this field-based role, you will be instrumental in evaluating, assessing, and pricing risks while driving profitable growth for our agency partners within your designated territory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Underwrite: Analyze risks, set prices, negotiate, and make informed decisions on commercial business.
- Market: Engage in the selling and solicitation of business across all available units within the territory to cultivate a robust and diverse agency relationship.
- Develop the territory: Lead the territory in strategic planning, ownership, and execution of growth and profit initiatives, including new agency appointments.
- Lead agencies: Build deep relationships with assigned agencies to create a diverse and profitable portfolio, fulfilling our vision to be the best company serving independent agents by maintaining a consistent presence within agency offices.
- Provide leadership: Collaborate with and guide other field disciplines within designated agency relationships to ensure their success through effective communication, support, and teamwork.
- Research the market: Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, emerging risks, and primary competitors, making informed decisions based on this data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Willingness to travel and visit agencies regularly.
- Skills in strategic business plan development.
- Passion for leadership.
- A valid driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Proven experience in underwriting, with a minimum of 2 years in commercial underwriting; more than 3 years preferred.
- Relevant insurance industry certifications (e.g., Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), professional selling) are advantageous.
