The Position

We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager to oversee a team of engineers, ensuring that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, technical knowledge, and a proven history of producing high-quality outcomes. ApartmentIQ stands as the sole provider of daily, unit-level competitive insights, tracking over 10 million units to deliver the most precise and current rental and leasing data available to multifamily operators.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of skilled engineers.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and business stakeholders to define the business requirements for all software initiatives.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and timelines, ensuring engineering deadlines are met.
  • Effectively allocate resources to guarantee efficient project completion.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members as necessary.
  • Monitor project advancement and address any emerging issues or risks.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in engineering management.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical challenges that may hinder product enhancements and project objectives.
  • Establish career development plans for each direct report, promoting mentoring, learning, and information sharing.
  • While we operate remotely, our teams do meet several times a year for collaborative sessions, in addition to our annual company retreat.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering management, preferably in a high-growth B2B SaaS startup.
  • Proficiency in Python, Ruby on Rails, and Typescript and React or similar technologies.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with project management experience.
  • Experience with cloud services such as AWS: RDS, ECS, S3, Lambda.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of translating complex concepts into actionable engineering plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
  • Analytical and data-driven approach to identifying, defining, and prioritizing problems, opportunities, and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment.
