AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer III to join our Rail and Transit team in Oakland, CA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for producing electrical and traction power construction documents for transit systems and facilities.
Under the supervision of a Senior Engineer, you will work collaboratively with a team of Engineers and Specialists across rail systems disciplines, project managers, systems engineers, signals engineers, analysts, and coordinators.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with traction power and facilities for electrified railways AC and DC systems.
- Ensure all design elements are compliant with relevant rail operation rules, industry codes, and client expectations.
- Prepare and guide drafters/designers and junior engineers in creating one-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing drawings, substation physical layouts, and selection of MV/LV electrical equipment.
- Interact with clients to discuss technical topics in a clear and professional manner.
- Facilitate resolution of customer expectations versus technical issues.
- Work with tight schedules, be flexible, control project budgets, and motivate junior staff.
- BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited education program.
- Engineer-in Training (EIT) certified.
- Professional Engineer License (PE).
- Proven ability to work successfully in multi-disciplinary teams and across different business units.
- Experience in different phases of the engineering design life.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
- Ability to use power system analysis tools such as SKM and ETAP.
- Able to travel domestically or internationally to support proposals, projects, and client needs.
