Electrical Engineer Job Description

At HDR, we're seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in designing and implementing electrical systems for large institutional and industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate electrical design team work on large projects through schematic design development and contract document phase
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance
  • Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule
  • Conduct site work sessions with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Review electrical documents for conflicts with other disciplines
  • Write and edit electrical specifications and select equipment, systems, and devices
  • Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Coordinators, or Technicians
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4 years of design and construction experience
  • Field surveys for data collection of existing equipment and facilities
  • Experience identifying electrical hazards and implementing safe work practices
  • Time-critical project tasks to achieve project schedule milestones
  • Coordination with internal divisions and public agencies
  • Strong decision-making, oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with ETAP, load studies, arc flash studies, etc.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI, and EasyPower
