The Position

This role is pivotal in establishing relationships and showcasing the clinical advantages of Novo Nordisk products. The incumbent will educate healthcare professionals (HCPs) about the benefits of key products and coordinate educational initiatives such as workshops and medical forums. Additionally, the position may involve identifying potential sites for clinical trials across various development stages. Candidates should possess a robust scientific and clinical background.

As part of Field Medical Affairs, this position serves as a scientific liaison between Novo Nordisk and key external stakeholders, facilitating scientific exchange. The role involves providing advanced product and scientific support to various internal teams, including Medical, Sales, Marketing, Managed Care, and Government, leveraging academic credentials and scientific expertise to engage with healthcare providers and relevant organizations.

Relationships

The position reports to the Field Director/Senior Field Director and acts as a spokesperson for advanced medical and technical projects. External relationships include key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, healthcare professionals, and other relevant entities, tailored to the specific needs of the territory.

Essential Functions

  • Administrative Duties:
    • Accurately completes administrative tasks in a timely manner, adhering to current SOPs and practices.
    • Ensures compliance with all relevant guidelines, policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Manages regional business operations and budgets effectively.
    • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of Novo Nordisk processes and assists colleagues in navigating these as needed.
    • Submits monthly reports on scientific support activities and budget expenditures as directed.
    • Records all activities within a customer response management system and manages expenses in accordance with procedures.
  • Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development:
    • Participates in medical and scientific meetings to stay informed about current issues and new data related to Novo Nordisk products.
    • Develops and nurtures relationships with key healthcare providers and integrated health networks (IHNs).
    • Promotes appropriate use of Novo Nordisk products and enhances service utilization.
    • Supports internal representatives and managers in addressing inquiries from healthcare providers.
  • Field-Based Clinical Support:
    • Collaborates with the Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) team to communicate the scientific value of Novo Nordisk products to key customers.
    • Works with Marketing and Sales management to inform scientific strategies that optimize product development activities.
    • Coordinates with clinical trial sites to ensure effective study management and timely completion.
    • Collaborates with regional team members to ensure comprehensive coverage of clinical and scientific needs.
    • Engages with internal stakeholders to provide tailored clinical education and support within respective IHNs.
    • Delivers product and scientific updates as requested, ensuring the use of approved materials.

Physical Requirements

This position requires 50-75% overnight travel and is field-based within the designated territory. A valid driver's license is required, and the candidate must maintain good standing based on a review of Motor Vehicle Records.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree is required.
  • At least two years of experience in a healthcare system, pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment is necessary.
  • Relevant clinical and/or therapeutic experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and knowledge of formulary processes are essential.
  • Extensive experience in Rare Bleeding Disorders is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must.
