Position Summary: Sterling Engineering Inc. is actively seeking a Manufacturing Mechanic to support our operations. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional talent to our clients, including many Fortune 1000 companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute assembly tasks following established work documents, schematics, safety protocols, and visual aids while adhering to Takt time.
  • Conduct quality inspections and document quality metrics.
  • Analyze quality trends and address variations stemming from part quality, process changes, and engineering modifications.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on engines in the designated shop area.
  • Calibrate and repair testing equipment as necessary.
  • Utilize hand tools, precision measuring devices, gauges, and test apparatus effectively.
  • Possess a background in electrical or electronic systems.
  • Experience in data acquisition and analysis is preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members and clients.
  • Exhibit proven mechanical and technical capabilities.
  • Conduct tests on heavy-duty diesel engines utilizing dynamometer cells and automation software.
  • Perform rework tasks as required without standard work documents.
  • Follow technical guidelines and collaborate closely with engineering personnel to ensure optimal engine performance during testing.
  • Prepare engines for testing, including component replacement and installation of measurement devices.
  • Safely transport heavy loads using cranes, power pushers, or electric pallet jacks.
  • Show flexibility and initiative in response to changing project demands.
  • Promote adherence to 5S principles and conduct 5S audits.
  • Have professional experience with camshafts, bearings, gears, and high-speed machinery.
  • Conduct audits of Standard Work processes.
  • Ensure compliance with start-of-shift checklists.
  • Facilitate cross-training and timely operator training.
  • Be a self-starter with a strong sense of initiative, capable of interpreting technical instructions and managing variations in parts and processes while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • May be required to operate manual machines such as lathes and grinders.

Qualifications:
  • Certification in diesel engine repair/rebuild or a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma/GED or technical certification is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data acquisition software.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex mechanical and electronic engine systems.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • Ability to debug mechanical, electrical, and software issues.
  • Willingness to travel to various facilities for engine warranty and service needs.
  • Certified in rigging operations.
