The Concrete Surface Specialist is responsible for refining and finishing surfaces after materials have been applied during the trenchless rehabilitation process. This position also involves assisting the crew with various supportive tasks, including preparing equipment and materials, as well as performing physical labor and excavation duties. Below are the key responsibilities and expectations for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the organization with professionalism and integrity, ensuring customer satisfaction while maximizing profitability without compromising safety or quality standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with supervisors and team members to guarantee successful inspections, cleanings, repairs, and rehabilitation of sewer, drain, and conduit systems.
  • Inspect forms that hold concrete to ensure they are constructed correctly.
  • Set forms for concrete to achieve the desired pitch and depth, ensuring proper alignment.
  • Distribute, level, and smooth concrete using various tools such as rakes, shovels, hand or power trowels, and floats.
  • Monitor environmental factors such as wind, heat, or cold that may affect the curing process of the concrete.
  • Mix cement, sand, and water to create concrete, grout, or slurry using appropriate tools and machinery.
  • Remove damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcement, and position reinforcing rods for concrete repairs.
  • Prepare concrete surfaces by wetting and rubbing with stone to achieve the desired finish, filling holes and cracks with grout or slurry.
  • Clean chipped areas using wire brushes and assess surfaces for roughness or unevenness.
  • Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure and restore concrete surfaces.
  • Load materials and equipment for transport to and from job sites.
  • Assist equipment operators as needed to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Enter confined spaces when necessary.
  • Ensure the work site is left clean and organized before departure.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures mandated by government and corporate regulations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow instructions and engage in on-the-job training.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in operating a variety of basic and advanced tools.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in physical labor or outdoor construction preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel as required.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and lift over 50 lbs. First Aid and Confined Space training are advantageous.
  • **VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED**

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Workdays are typically Monday through Friday, including shift work, weekends, evenings, and holidays. Flexibility is essential as job duties may require.
