Operations Manager Job Description

A Valcourt Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing branch operations in a specific geographical area to achieve business goals and maximize profitability. As an operations manager, the duties include building an operations delivery team, setting performance objectives, ensuring workers follow all safety procedures, evaluating and optimizing operational performance, ensuring company standards are upheld, and preparing operational financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, terminating, and managing operations staff, including project managers, assistant project managers, project coordinators, superintendents, and foremen.
  • Scheduling and assigning contracted projects to the operations team.
  • Forecasting monthly revenue and gross profit projections.
  • Ensuring all operational processes and procedures are being followed, including FMI process, job activations, change orders, etc.
  • Monitoring budgets on all projects within the region.
  • Implementing actions to ensure all necessary means are being applied to manage projects to budget.
  • Responsible for ensuring projects are run safely and within company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
  • On occasion, the operations manager may be required to directly manage select key projects.
  • The operations manager will work out of the Pensacola, FL Waterproofing Office.
  • The operations manager will report to the general manager.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Procore or equivalent construction management software.
  • Experience working with labor and capable of managing an outside workforce.
  • Proven experience managing construction services, including suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Strong financial skills, including forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing financial statements and working with construction accounting systems and job cost reports.
  • Effective oral, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to lead meetings at all levels and build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to develop and challenge direct reports to improve their performance, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and job cost/estimating.
