The Mary Evans Child Development Center is a renowned, full-time Early Childhood Program and a ministry of First Community Church. We are a play-based learning center that honors each child for who they are. Our team of teachers work collaboratively to plan developmentally appropriate choices that are offered throughout the day.

About Us

We are a 50-week-per-year program, operating from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. We have openings beginning in June for summer and continuing into the school year, or starting in late August and continuing through the school year. Children transition from the toddler program to the Preschool class as they reach the appropriate age and developmental readiness.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking preschool teachers with a degree or working towards a degree in Early Childhood or a related field. Teachers will work up to 40 hours per week on a team of three teachers. The schedule is varied throughout the week, but you will know your schedule in advance. Daily shifts are up to 8 hours. Teachers share all responsibilities in the classroom and we trust our teachers to manage their classrooms.

Requirements
  • Possession of at least an associate degree in child development or a closely related area.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of child development.
  • Ability to work with children and their families in a sensitive and positive way.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Great planning and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to quickly move towards children when help and intervention is needed.
  • Must be able to easily get up and down off the floor.
  • Must be able to easily sit on the floor with children.
