Job Title: RN - Nursing House Supervisor

Job Overview:

As a key member of our healthcare team, the RN - Nursing House Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital. This leadership position requires strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hospital Oversight: Act as the primary leadership figure during shifts, overseeing the functioning of all departments, including ER, ICU, med-surg, labor & delivery, and others as needed.
  • Coordination of Care: Collaborate with department supervisors to ensure seamless patient care, addressing any issues or concerns that arise when direct supervisors are not available.
  • Staff Support & Leadership: Provide guidance and support to the nursing staff, assisting with clinical decisions and resolving personnel or patient care issues as they arise.
  • Patient Volume Management: Oversee a daily patient volume of 40-50 patients (~10-12 patients per shift), ensuring adequate staffing levels and resource allocation to manage patient care needs.
  • Emergency Response: Lead response to emergency situations and code blue events, ensuring rapid and effective intervention in critical cases.
  • Clinical & Administrative Duties: Oversee hospital-wide operations, including staffing, patient flow, admissions, and discharges, ensuring all areas are functioning smoothly and efficiently.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Ensure accurate documentation of patient care, shift reports, and any incidents or critical events, maintaining detailed and timely records.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to all hospital policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining compliance with healthcare standards.

Essential General Nursing Functions:

  • Provide proper notification for absences and tardiness and is punctual at start of shift.
  • Observe hospital dress code and wear identification badge.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and other nursing staff.
  • Demonstrate understanding of emergency/disaster situations and response plans.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment assigned to patient care and report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and in-services.
  • Observe safety precautions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:

  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to function and perform independently and in teams.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of diverse social and cultural backgrounds at all levels.
  • Skills in operating computers and software, including Microsoft applications.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Valid and unrestricted RN license from Arizona or any compact licensing state.
  • Certifications: Must hold current BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Nursing House Supervisor or similar leadership role.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to manage clinical staff and respond to challenging situations.
  • Multitasking & Decision-Making: Ability to effectively prioritize and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Information:

  • Patient Care Focus: Supervise and support the nursing staff in caring for 40-50 patients per day, with ~10-12 patients per shift.
  • Rotating Schedule: This position requires a 36/48 rotating weekly schedule (12-hour shifts).
