Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate After School Enrichment Specialist to join our team at Oswego County Opportunities, Inc. As an integral part of our After School programs, you will provide direct early intervention services and enrichment activities to youth, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent, non-judgmental services using a youth development approach
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of consumers, maintaining professional boundaries and role modeling positive behavior
  • Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of participants, addressing issues to ensure health and safety
  • Plan and facilitate group enrichment activities, managing a group size of 15 youth
  • Assist youth with activities to meet their needs, including planning/participating in recreational/social activities, following program guidelines, and reinforcement of limits and boundaries
  • Communicate pertinent information to co-workers and supervisors
  • Assist youth in contacting and connecting with resources, both internally and externally
  • Assist in maintaining positive relationships with school personnel and the public, providing contacts with parents to engage in program
  • Complete all documentation accurately, as required, including electronic records

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work effectively with youth
  • Must have the ability to work with others in a warm, non-judgmental manner and be a positive role model
  • Must be able to assess situations, exercise good judgment, carry out duties appropriately, and know when to refer difficult situations for assistance
  • Must have the ability to work with populations with special needs, including those that may exhibit aggressive behaviors
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of agency, program, and consumer information
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of regulations, services, rights, and responsibilities for the population served
  • Must have necessary oral and written communication skills, as well as basic skills for word processing and data entry
  • Must be flexible with work schedule to meet the needs of the program
  • Must obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings within required timeframes and attend internal and external meetings and training sessions as assigned/required
  • Must have acceptable health to carry out the responsibilities of the position, including repetitive lifting of 50 lbs.
  • Must have a valid NYS Driver's license with driving record within policy and access to a properly insured, reliable vehicle
  • Must obtain and maintain OCO van certification
  • Must be familiar with the geographical layout of the county and have knowledge of human service resources in the county

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 12 months experience working with children under 13 years of age; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training relevant to this position
