Job Title: Intake Specialist

Volunteers of America Chesapeake and Carolinas (V) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Intake Specialist to join our team. As an Intake Specialist, you will serve as the initial point of contact for applicants seeking SSVF services, providing critical support and guidance throughout the application process.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to inquiries from applicants regarding program eligibility requirements and other issues as needed.
  • Process and manage applicant data, ensuring accurate and timely entry into our electronic health record system.
  • Collaborate with local office staff to ensure seamless intake processes and effective communication with applicants.
  • Maintain working knowledge of SSVF program guidelines and eligibility criteria.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing applicant concerns and questions in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Participate in training and supervision, contributing to the development of positive team relationships and a culture of excellence.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum four-year degree or comparable experience working with at-risk populations, including homeless, homeless veterans, and those facing mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work well with diverse populations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with ability to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, with ability to communicate effectively with applicants from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
