Job Summary

The Director of Alumni Engagement is a key member of the Advancement team, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni annual giving program. This includes extensive outreach to alumni constituents, cultivating relationships, and collaborating with Advancement colleagues and volunteers to increase annual giving revenue, broaden the base of support, and retain and upgrade donors through appropriate stewardship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the relationship with the Alumni Board of Directors, providing strategic direction, managing board needs, and empowering volunteers in the work of executing engagement and fundraising strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and manage donor-centered and data-driven strategies to plan and execute alumni annual giving goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a front-line fundraiser for unrestricted annual giving from alumni, students, faculty, and staff, and friends of Saint Andrew's to exceed fundraising goals for dollars raised and participation.
  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 150 alumni annual fund prospects through the donor cycle of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Routinely identify and qualify alumni major gift and planned gift prospects.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive alumni communications strategy through a coordinated matrix of communications involving email, direct mail, social media, website, publications, event invitations, and volunteer opportunities, all focused on shaping a lifelong connection and sustainable tradition of annual support.
  • Develop, coordinate, manage, and analyze all alumni events to ensure engagement and follow-up goals are met.
  • Develop and manage the Alumni & Parent Mentorship and Internship Program (SA Connect). Recruit mentors and users within the Saint Andrew's community.
  • Develop and implement an Alumni Stewardship Plan.
  • Develop and implement a Young Alumni Program.
  • Identify, recruit, and manage the Class Agent program.
  • Oversee the development of programs to educate and inspire current students to appreciate the value of a life-long relationship with Saint Andrew's.
  • Capture donor information and cultivation activities in Raiser's Edge. Work in collaboration with Advancement Services to obtain reports and conduct assessments.
  • Assist in the advancement of and provide oversight for the alumni budget. Manage budget requests, maintain records, and review budgets and expenditures for all programs administered.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in alumni relations and/or annual giving.
  • Thorough knowledge of advancement operations and exceptional experience managing annual giving programs.
  • Experience in using development software, Raiser's Edge preferred. Understanding of database management, gift processing, and donor relations.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Well-organized with attention to detail, including organization, prioritization, judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, donors, volunteers, and friends of the School.
  • Demonstrate diplomatic, professional, courteous, and interpersonal skills; display discretion in dealing with sensitive, confidential issues.
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills with the ability to multitask and work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects on a deadline.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, guiding, and motivating volunteers individually and in groups; ability to establish cooperative, effective working relationships.
  • Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
  • Possesses sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities with high integrity, ethics, and dedication to the school's mission.
