We are looking for a Trauma Registered Nurse Lead to enhance our healthcare team.
Your primary responsibility will be to deliver direct nursing care in line with established policies and protocols.
You will take proactive responsibility for multiple patients during designated shifts while adhering to our policies and procedures.
You will collaborate with a dedicated team that operates with a family-like atmosphere and a commitment to teamwork.Key Responsibilities:
The Trauma Nurse Lead will provide direct nursing care following established guidelines.
Working alongside patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, the Trauma Nurse Lead will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate treatment strategies.
This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, effective nursing interventions, and excellent communication and leadership abilities. In addition to clinical duties, the Trauma Nurse Lead will support trauma program initiatives.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to trauma bays for all Trauma Alerts.
- Ensuring trauma bay readiness.
- Modeling professional behavior and mentoring trauma nurse responders.
- Coordinating and triaging incoming trauma patients, evaluating all activations for appropriateness.
- Acting as a clinical liaison for pre-hospital partners.
- Ensuring documentation compliance, conducting audits, and providing feedback.
- Assisting in coordinating admission consultations and timely responses for urgent needs.
- Facilitating trauma bay time-outs and debriefings with the primary surgeon.
- Monitoring care for trauma patients awaiting admission in the ED.
- Addressing critical needs of in-house trauma patients.
- Conducting daily rounds on in-house trauma patients, delivering exceptional service to patients and their families.
- Identifying and reporting on trauma audit filters.
- Participating in daily multi-disciplinary rounds with trauma service providers.
- Conducting focused patient rounds based on current performance improvement projects.
- Providing real-time education through training and in-service needs in the ED and inpatient units.
- Engaging in scholarly activities.
- Assisting with the coordination of operative patients, ensuring pre-operative readiness.
- Aiding in vascular access with midline and ultrasound-guided IV placements.
- Completing SBIRT and mental health screenings for eligible patients.
- Assisting during massive transfusions of trauma patients across the hospital.
- Regularly communicating with charge nurses regarding all units with trauma patients.
- When not engaged in other duties, assisting with care tasks in the ED and trauma inpatient units as needed.
- Supporting chart abstraction and patient follow-up for active research projects.
- Participating in disaster preparedness initiatives.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the director of trauma services.
- Graduation from an NLN accredited nursing program. Current BSN or enrollment with graduation within two years of hire.
- Active Florida RN License.
- AHA BLS certification.
- ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC certifications within six months of hire.
- Minimum of three years of experience in critical care or emergency nursing.
- BSN, TCRN, CEN, or CCRN certification preferred, along with at least one year of trauma care experience.
