We are looking for a Trauma Registered Nurse Lead to become an integral part of our healthcare team.
Your primary responsibility will be to deliver direct nursing care in alignment with the established policies, procedures, and protocols of our healthcare organization.
You will take on accountability for multiple patients during a designated timeframe while adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
Collaborate with a dedicated team that operates with a family-like spirit and fosters a cooperative work environment.Key Responsibilities:
The Trauma Nurse Lead will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established guidelines.
Working closely with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, the Trauma Nurse Lead will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate treatment plans.
This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, effective nursing interventions, and excellent communication and leadership abilities. In addition to clinical duties, the Trauma Nurse Lead will support trauma program initiatives.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to trauma bays for all Trauma Alerts.
- Ensuring trauma bay readiness.
- Serving as a role model and mentor for trauma nurse responders.
- Coordinating and triaging incoming trauma patients, evaluating activations for appropriateness.
- Acting as a clinical liaison for pre-hospital partners.
- Ensuring compliance with documentation standards; conducting audits and providing feedback.
- Assisting in coordinating admission consultations and response times for urgent needs.
- Facilitating trauma bay time-outs and debriefings with the primary surgeon.
- Monitoring care for trauma patients awaiting admission in the ED.
- Addressing critical needs of in-house trauma patients.
- Conducting daily rounds on in-house trauma patients and delivering exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
- Identifying and reporting on trauma audit filters.
- Participating in daily multi-disciplinary rounds with trauma service providers.
- Performing focused patient rounds based on current performance improvement projects.
- Providing real-time education through training and in-service sessions in the ED and inpatient units.
- Engaging in scholarly activities.
- Assisting with the coordination of operative patients, ensuring pre-operative readiness.
- Supporting vascular access procedures with midline and ultrasound-guided IV placements.
- Conducting SBIRT and mental health screenings for eligible patients.
- Assisting during massive transfusions of trauma patients across the hospital.
- Maintaining regular communication with charge nurses regarding trauma patients.
- Assisting with care provision tasks in the ED and trauma inpatient units as needed.
- Supporting chart abstraction and patient follow-up for active research projects.
- Participating in disaster preparedness initiatives.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the director of trauma services.
- Graduate from an NLN accredited nursing program. Current BSN or in progress with graduation within two years of hire.
- Valid Florida RN License.
- AHA BLS certification.
- ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC certifications within six months of hire.
- Minimum of three years of experience in critical care or emergency nursing.
- BSN, TCRN, CEN, or CCRN certification preferred, along with at least one year of trauma care experience.
