POSITION SUMMARY:
We are in search of a Trauma Registered Nurse Lead to become a vital part of our healthcare team.
Your primary role will be to deliver direct nursing care following the established policies and protocols of our organization.
You will take responsibility for several patients during a specified timeframe while adhering to our policies and procedures.
You will collaborate with a dedicated team that values a family-like atmosphere and teamwork.Key Responsibilities:
The Trauma Nurse Lead will provide direct nursing care in alignment with established guidelines.
Working alongside patients, their families, and the healthcare team, the Trauma Nurse Lead will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and coordinate treatment strategies.
This role requires strong clinical assessment, nursing interventions, and effective communication and leadership skills. In addition to clinical duties, the Trauma Nurse Lead will support trauma program initiatives.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responding to trauma bays for all Trauma Alerts.
- Ensuring trauma bay readiness.
- Serving as a role model and mentor for trauma nurse responders.
- Coordinating and triaging incoming trauma patients, assessing all activations for appropriateness.
- Acting as a clinical liaison for pre-hospital partners.
- Ensuring documentation compliance through audits and feedback.
- Assisting in coordinating admission consultations and response times for urgent needs.
- Facilitating trauma bay time-outs and debriefings with the primary surgeon.
- Monitoring care for trauma patients awaiting admission in the ED.
- Addressing critical needs of in-house trauma patients.
- Conducting daily rounds on in-house trauma patients, providing excellent service to patients and families.
- Identifying and reporting on trauma audit filters.
- Participating in daily multi-disciplinary rounds with trauma service providers.
- Performing focused patient rounds based on current quality improvement projects.
- Assisting with real-time education and training needs in the ED and inpatient units.
- Engaging in scholarly activities.
- Supporting the coordination of operative patients, ensuring pre-op readiness.
- Assisting with vascular access procedures.
- Conducting mental health screenings for eligible patients.
- Assisting during massive transfusions of trauma patients across the hospital.
- Maintaining regular communication with charge nurses regarding trauma patients.
- Performing additional tasks as needed in the ED and trauma inpatient units.
- Assisting with chart abstraction and patient follow-up for research projects.
- Participating in disaster preparedness initiatives.
- Graduation from an NLN accredited nursing program. Current BSN or enrollment with graduation within two years of hire.
- Valid Florida RN License.
- AHA BLS certification.
- ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC certifications within six months of hire.
- Minimum of three years of experience in critical care or emergency nursing.
- BSN, TCRN, CEN, or CCRN preferred, with at least one year in trauma care.
