Job Summary

Madison Area Technical College is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Part-time Instructor to teach part-time courses for the Culinary Trades program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning, and participating in college service activities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective learning strategies and environments for students in the Culinary Arts program.
  • Deliver instruction of high quality, including lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training.
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to students.
  • Participate in college service activities, including in-service meetings, staff development training, and other activities as requested by the Department.
  • Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
  • Assist students in developing work experience assignments, such as internships, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years or 4,000 hours of related work experience.
  • Must be currently certified as a ServSafe Food Manager with a minimum score of 90%.
  • Certified in one of the following or the ability to earn a certification within one year of employment: Certified Executive Chef, Certified Culinary Educator, Certified Pastry Chef, Foodservice Management Professional, Certified Sous Chef, or Certified Working Pastry Chef.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation, and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
  • Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
  • Knowledge and ability to infuse multicultural perspectives into course content and delivery.
  • Skill in communications and human relations with populations having diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds, as well as individuals with disabilities.
  • Ability to interact with business and industry to establish partnerships.
