Job Opportunity:

At Skillwork, we are seeking a highly skilled Ammonia Refrigeration Technician/Operator 2 to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing boilers and boiler room auxiliary equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our industrial refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and repair of boilers and boiler room auxiliary equipment, including pumps, steam and water valves, air compressors, and high pressure condensate.
  • Monitoring load demands and starting or shutting down boilers, air compressors, and water pumps to maintain the required steam, air, and water output.
  • Reacting to changes in load demands, including during emergencies, and monitoring chemical feed systems for water treatment.
  • Manipulating valves to control the flow of water and fuel, and adjusting equipment controls to correct malfunctions.
  • Observing operating equipment, meters, and gauges to ensure operation is in accord with specified instructions, and inspecting boiler safety devices.
  • Reporting abnormal operating conditions or major repair requirements to shift supervisors, and assisting in implementing remedial action and logging all information in daily log books.
  • Performing minor repairs, such as replacing defective meters, packing valves, worn gaskets, and tightening joints.
  • Receiving calls from departmental personnel regarding problems, such as lack of temperature control, and relaying information to shift supervisors.
  • Maintaining the boiler room and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition, and assisting in the annual boiler inspection.
  • Demonstrating personal commitment to the organization's core values through active involvement in the quality improvement process, and demonstrating safe work practices and attitudes.


Requirements:
  • Ammonia Operator 2 or RETA CIRO certification.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a refrigeration technician/operator.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in reading schematics and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of engine and boiler systems, electricity and motor controls, pneumatics and hydraulic pump/valves, predictive maintenance, site utilities, system analysis and troubleshooting, and metal fabrication.
