Job Title: Lead Roving Technician

At Canadian Solar, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Roving Technician to join our team. As a key member of our commissioning and maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our SolBank systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Commissioning Managers to represent SolBank responsibilities.
  • Review and coordinate SolBank commissioning schedules and forecast necessary manpower.
  • Allocate contracted workers per the schedule requirements and manage their funding and onboarding.
  • Train new Service Technicians to commission SolBank systems.
  • Place QR codes on SolBank systems and register them in the CMMS.
  • Train technicians and contractors on CMMS and proper usage.
  • Represent Services as site lead for new projects and drive scheduling, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Work with Field Service Supervisors to ensure effective transition to Operations.
  • Act as field technical advisor for Service Technicians, Field Supervisors, and Service Department.
  • Respond to situations that arise during SolBank transit, including repairs and damage assessment.
  • Assist in procedure development and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Perform training exercises in the field for Service Technicians supporting commissioning and maintenance activities.
  • Provide onsite diagnostic, troubleshooting, and hands-on support to maintain equipment and achieve availability and capacity guarantees.
  • Develop operating procedures and processes.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and policies.
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Qualified Electrical Technician
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant work experience in a service environment, preferably in renewable energy
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • Proficient in converting technical data into technical manuals and procedures
  • Previous training and knowledge of inverters
  • SCADA experience is beneficial
  • Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, and Energy Storage system applications is an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel)
  • Previous experience with a CMMS software program preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • First Aid Trained
  • Must be able to travel to regional locations as needed (over 50% of time)
  • Ability to function successfully both independently and with a team
  • Demonstrated professional appearance and conduct
