Special Education Instructor

Perspectives Charter Schools Network is in search of several Special Education Instructors for the upcoming academic year.
To be eligible for the Sign-On Incentive, applicants must be new candidates not previously considered for a similar position and not currently part of the organization. Candidates are required to possess a Professional Educator's License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education. The bonus will be disbursed within 30 working days from the commencement date, contingent upon a signed agreement. A one-year payback clause is applicable if employment is terminated before the one-year anniversary.

Our students hail from some of the most underserved neighborhoods in the nation, yet they graduate with plans to pursue higher education or vocational training, equipped with the skills to succeed in college and their careers.

- Master the subject matter and effectively teach students to enhance academic performance.
- Develop detailed lesson plans that promote higher-order thinking skills and utilize formative assessments to adapt instruction based on student needs.
- Differentiate teaching methods to accommodate students with diverse academic abilities.
- Exhibit strong classroom management techniques and cultivate a classroom environment aligned with the 26 principles of A Disciplined Life.
- Engage in professional development and collaborate with instructional leaders to refine teaching practices.
- Establish meaningful and professional relationships with students and their families.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an active Illinois Teaching License and be Highly Qualified in relevant subject areas as per the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Proven success in an urban educational setting is highly preferred.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to the values of Perspectives Charter Schools by embodying the 26 principles of A Disciplined Life.
- Hold a firm belief that all students in Chicago deserve an education that prioritizes social-emotional learning and high academic standards delivered with excellence.
- Exhibit strong classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
- Commitment to lifelong learning and a desire to engage in professional development and coaching for continuous improvement.
- Mastery of content knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively with students.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and responsiveness.
- Possess strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Ability to read and write proficiently in English.
- Capable of effective interaction in interpersonal situations and in front of groups.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
The majority of work will take place in a standard office/school environment. The position requires availability for extended hours and non-traditional hours to fulfill job responsibilities. Participation in organization-sponsored events and meetings is also required.
Physical demands include the ability to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20 lbs for short durations, navigate stairs multiple times daily, and engage in activities such as reaching, bending, walking, standing, talking, and hearing.
