Pharmacist - Medication Optimization Specialist

As a Pharmacist at UNC Health Care, you will play a critical role in optimizing medication use and drug distribution services to improve patient outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of dedicated healthcare professionals who share a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and interpreting prescriptions, reviewing patient medication profiles, and clarifying incomplete or inaccurate prescriptions with prescribers or other healthcare professionals.
- Identifying and intervening on medication-related problems, utilizing patient data to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations.
- Compounding and dispensing medications, including sterile products, using standard formulas and procedures.
- Complying with medication formulary, therapeutic substitution, and other programs designed to optimize drug therapy while minimizing cost.
- Counseling patients and family members regarding pharmaceutical care issues, directing workflow, and supervising pharmacy technicians and students.
Requirements:
- PharmD or BS Pharmacy Degree
- Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment
- No prior experience required
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek. The salary range is $49.75 - $71.50 per hour, with pay offers determined by experience and internal equity.
