The Corporate & Structured Products Credit team (CPSC) specializes in managing wholesale credit risks, focusing on lending and derivative exposures that are supported by corporate or securitized cash flows. The team is divided into Sector Coverage, which emphasizes relationship lending, and Product Coverage, which encompasses Project Finance, Securitization, Real Estate, and Leveraged Buyouts (LBO). The responsibilities of this role are two-fold:
(i) underwriting loans and approving derivatives, and
(ii) continuously monitoring the credit portfolio.
Summary:
In this role, you will assist in the credit approval and decision-making processes.
Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough analyses of creditworthiness, including evaluating the applicant's profile, loan structure, risk-return balance, operational background, and industry context, which includes historical financial performance and cash flow assessments.
- Develop various financial models for projections, recoveries, and other analyses, providing insights on the validity of assumptions in both management and sensitivity scenarios.
- Benchmark prospective borrowers against their industry peers and identify relevant market trends.
- Draft comprehensive, clear, and organized written summaries and analyses (Credit Opinions) with recommendations for approval or denial. Engage with branches/agencies regarding potential modifications to credit structures or conditions for approval.
- Advise on suitable risk ratings for each client or transaction as necessary.
- Proactively track and evaluate assigned borrowers and industries, utilizing market data such as share prices, EDF, CDS, or secondary loan prices, and communicate findings and their implications to Senior Management promptly.
- Adhere to established credit standards, policies, objectives, and requirements.
- Bachelor's degree; a major in Finance or Economics is advantageous.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in banking.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated and inquisitive individual with a keen interest in a finance career.
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities, capable of processing new information, grasping complex subjects, and applying sound judgment.
- Familiarity with financial statements and accounting principles; ability to construct comprehensive cash flow models based on justifiable assumptions.
- Effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and strong verbal and written communication abilities; capable of presenting credit packages to decision-makers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
