Lead Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Role Summary: The Navy Expeditionary Medical Support Command (NEMSCOM) is tasked with the design, production, life-cycle management, deployment, and operational readiness of U.S. Navy Deployable Medical Systems (DEPMEDS). The Lead Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) will provide critical support to the Deployable Medical Systems and Material Management within NEMSCOM. This role involves overseeing engineering initiatives that encompass the design, construction, and management of infrastructure projects and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate long-term plans, survey data, maps, and other relevant information to strategize and design projects.
- Assess construction costs, regulatory requirements, potential environmental impacts, and other considerations during the planning and risk assessment phases.
- Prepare and submit permit applications to various governmental bodies, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Supervise and interpret soil testing results to assess the adequacy and stability of foundations.
- Evaluate test outcomes for construction materials, including concrete, wood, asphalt, and steel, for specific projects.
- Develop cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor to ascertain the economic viability of projects.
- Utilize design software to conceptualize and design transportation systems, hydraulic systems, and structures in accordance with industry and governmental standards.
- Conduct or oversee surveying activities to establish building locations, site layouts, reference points, grades, and elevations to facilitate construction.
- Manage the repair, maintenance, and replacement of both public and private infrastructure.
- Engage with clients to identify objectives and requirements for structures.
- Degree in Architecture, Civil, Structural, Transportation, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is required.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience is essential.
- Professional Engineering license is preferred.
- Successful completion of a CBP background investigation is mandatory.
- Secret Clearance is required.
- Essential Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in production planning software and tools (e.g., ERP systems).
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
