As an Automation Specialist, your role will encompass:

We are looking for an Automation Specialist with extensive experience in liquid handling robotics and the integration of supporting instruments. The ideal candidate will exhibit creative solutions in the design, optimization, and execution of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) or workflows based on cells and organoids utilizing automated robotic systems. This position requires a growth-oriented mindset and a commitment to mastering new automation technologies.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Integrate Liquid Handling Robotics: Efficiently incorporate liquid handling robotics with supporting instruments to facilitate molecular and cellular biology workflows.
  • Automate Standardized Assays: Validate and implement automated processes for a variety of standardized assays, including DNA/RNA purification and NGS library preparation.
  • Collaborate on Workflow Translation: Partner with scientists to convert benchtop processes into fully automated workflows, ensuring rigorous validation through testing.
  • Design User-Centric Processes: Create and validate comprehensive processes on integrated lab automation platforms, focusing on user-friendly design and secure data management.
  • Troubleshoot and Optimize: Engage in advanced troubleshooting with scientists to enhance usability and process efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with diverse teams to integrate NGS and organoid workflows into automated systems.
  • Technical Issue Resolution: Address and resolve technical challenges related to automation and NGS workflows.
  • User Training: Educate end-users on the operation of automated platforms and workflow execution.
  • Stay Updated on Technology: Remain informed about advancements in automation technologies relevant to liquid handling systems.
  • Independent Workflow Development: Independently develop innovative automated workflows.
  • Meticulous Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive records of all experiments conducted.
  • Collaboration and Organization: Collaborate with various teams, sharing methodologies and aligning efforts.
  • Lab and Equipment Management: Oversee the organization and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Master's degree with 1+ years or Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of experience in bioengineering or biology, focusing on automation platforms in relevant sectors.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with liquid handling platforms and workflows.
  • Direct experience with laboratory operations and maintenance of automation instruments.
  • Strong understanding of molecular and cellular biology, particularly NGS assays.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain essential protocols for lab automation systems.
  • Experience collaborating with R&D teams on automation projects.
  • Effective communication skills within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Functional knowledge of at least one high-level programming language, with additional languages being a plus.
  • Experience with Beckman-Coulter and/or Dynamic Devices liquid handling platforms.

Preferred Skills:
  • Extensive experience with high-throughput methods and laboratory automation.
  • Proficiency in integrating liquid handling systems with supporting instruments.
  • In-depth knowledge of end-to-end NGS workflows.
  • Functional understanding of cellular and molecular biology.
  • Proficiency in NGS protocols and automation programming.
  • Experience in organoid culture and assay development is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay range: $ 37 -$ 43 /Per Hour
