Position Summary
The Laundry Processing Specialist plays a crucial role in the operational workflow by manually feeding textiles into various machines, including folding and ironing equipment. This position requires collaboration within a team, where each member may be assigned to different machinery during their shift, handling both wet and dry items as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
As part of a dedicated team, the Laundry Processing Specialist may undertake several tasks throughout their shift, including but not limited to:
- Transporting clean linens to the designated work area
- Identifying customer orders using tags
- Sorting mixed clean linens
- Feeding linens into machines for folding or ironing
- Hand-folding linens and mops
- Loading linens onto an automated conveyor system
- Hanging linens on metal hangers as required
- Stacking linens as they exit folding or ironing machines when necessary
- Conducting visual and manual inspections of linens to ensure quality standards
- Maintaining a tidy and organized workstation
- Exhibiting friendly and respectful behavior in the workplace
- Assisting with any tasks as directed by management
- Performing additional duties as assigned
- Participating in job rotation as needed
Additional Duties:
Occasionally, the Laundry Processing Specialist may be tasked with handling linens that require special care, including:
- Counting and stacking folded linens by quantity
- Assisting in inventory management for accounts
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency in reading, comprehending, and writing in English and/or Spanish
- Strong attention to detail and quality orientation
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate closely with colleagues
- Flexibility to work day or night shifts and rotate shifts based on production needs
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as required
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening in compliance with applicable laws
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Constant standing and frequent walking throughout the entire shift
- Ability to maintain balance while walking, standing, or crouching
- Frequent reaching, twisting, and applying pressure, as well as grasping and pulling items
- Lifting and moving objects, with a focus on upper body strength
- Regular pushing and pulling of laundry carts weighing up to 250 pounds
- Repetitive hand movements, including grasping and manipulating items
- Heavy lifting, with the ability to exert force and lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Ability to meet productivity standards in a fast-paced environment
- Specific vision abilities required for close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception
- Ability to understand and apply both oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively and count accurately
- Required to wear personal protective equipment as necessary
- Ability to hear and remain aware of surroundings for safety
- Must be capable of meeting the physical demands of the role throughout the entire shift
Work Environment
The position is situated within the production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, which involves working around large machinery and exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and humidity.
