About the Role:
The Fresh Market is currently seeking a Category Analyst for Produce/Floral at our Store Support Center. This pivotal role supports the Category Management Teams by integrating strategic analytics, supplier assessments, and periodic business evaluations. The Category Analyst will work collaboratively with Financial Planning, Pricing, Space Planning, Marketing, MDI, and Store Operations to uncover insights and opportunities within the category. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proven ability to leverage data to inform decisions and drive outcomes. This role requires attention to detail and expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis, with a passion for delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the forecasting of annual, quarterly, periodic, and weekly sales and margins, including post-analysis and budget planning.
  • Prepare analyses to forecast demand for existing and proposed promotional initiatives, including short-term and long-term sales projections.
  • Support the review of store layouts, planogram assignments, and overall metrics to optimize space allocations within the assigned category.
  • Collaborate with Category Managers to create and upload distributions for promotional items, seasonal products, and holiday assortments.
  • Generate, maintain, review, and analyze various reports in MicroStrategy for assigned categories.
  • Compile supplier reports and top-to-top data to support merchandising efforts.
  • Assist in pre-analysis and post-analysis reviews for category evaluations.
  • Conduct monthly shrink analyses and recommend actions accordingly.
  • Maintain inventory balance analyses on a store-by-store basis for assigned categories.
  • Manage all CGO-related data.
  • Provide support for ad hoc reporting requests related to categories, items, seasonal purchases, distributors, and store operations.

Qualifications:
At a minimum, you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in business or data analytics, category management, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • Understanding of Financial Statements, Data Modeling, and Business Analytics.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and a strong follow-through.
  • Ability to communicate complex data analyses clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in Logical and Text formulas, Lookup functions, Pivot tables, Macros, and VBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MicroStrategy.
