Position Overview:
The Fresh Market is currently seeking a Category Analyst for Produce/Floral at our Store Support Center. This pivotal role supports the Category Management Teams by balancing strategic analytics, supplier evaluations, and periodic business assessments. The Category Analyst will work collaboratively with Financial Planning, Pricing, Space Planning, Marketing, MDI, and Store Operations to uncover insights and opportunities within the category. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proven ability to leverage data to drive results. Attention to detail and expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis are essential, along with a passion for delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in forecasting sales and margins on an annual, quarterly, and weekly basis, including post-analysis and budget planning.
  • Prepare analyses to forecast demand for existing and proposed promotional plans, including sales projections for specific timeframes.
  • Support the review of store layouts, planogram assignments, and overall space-to-sales metrics to optimize category space allocations.
  • Collaborate with Category Managers to create and upload distributions for promotional items, seasonal products, and holiday assortments.
  • Maintain and analyze daily, weekly, and quarterly reports in MicroStrategy for assigned categories.
  • Gather supplier reporting and top-to-top data to support merchandising initiatives prior to supplier meetings.
  • Assist in category review pre-analysis and post-analysis evaluations.
  • Conduct monthly shrink analyses and recommend actions based on findings.
  • Maintain inventory balance analyses on a store-by-store basis for assigned categories.
  • Manage all CGO-related data.
  • Provide support for ad hoc reporting requests related to categories, items, seasonal buys, distributors, and store operations.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in business or data analytics, category management, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
  • Understanding of Financial Statements, Data Modeling, and Business Analytics.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills and follow-through.
  • Ability to convey complex data analyses clearly and concisely.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency in Logical and Text formulas, Lookup functions, Pivot tables, Macros, and VBA.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with MicroStrategy.
