Role Overview
The Sanitation Operations Leader will oversee the Sanitation team to guarantee complete adherence to sanitation and cleaning protocols, food safety, and personnel safety, while complying with all federal, state, and customer regulations. This role will support the facility in fulfilling production timelines and achieving manufacturing targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and uphold comprehensive sanitation schedules, ensuring effective execution, documentation, and filing of daily cleaning tasks.
- Ensure the proper sanitation of equipment and efficient operational startups by comprehending the manufacturing process and equipment design.
- Maintain cleanliness and good condition of all facility areas.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Production teams to verify allergen cleaning effectiveness.
- Coordinate with facility leadership to ensure project readiness and manage work schedules to meet objectives.
- Manage inventory for the Sanitation department, adhering to budget constraints.
- Oversee chemical management within the Sanitation department, liaising with chemical suppliers.
- Ensure adequate training and documentation for the Sanitation team.
- Continuously educate, monitor, and enforce compliance with safety protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out, chemical safety, and PPE requirements.
- Create, revise, and audit sanitation programs and SSOPs to ensure compliance with FDA and GFSI standards.
- Assist in updating quality systems related to sanitation, environmental safety, food safety, and quality controls.
- Participate in food safety and facility audits, as well as company and third-party audits.
- Provide pest control support, collaborating with pest control providers to ensure timely corrective measures.
- Support food safety initiatives, quality standards, and product legality.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred and/or 3 years of experience in sanitation program implementation.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience.
- Preferred experience with GFSI and FDA regulations.
- HACCP and PCQI certifications are advantageous.
- USDA experience is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and coaching abilities with a passion for fostering positive change and developing interdepartmental relationships.
- Exceptional decision-making skills with the ability to adapt swiftly to changes.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and communicate effectively.
- Continuous improvement mindset with the capability to lead and support multiple initiatives.
