Department Overview

PG&E's Power Generation Department oversees and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the United States. This sustainable energy generation network, primarily situated in elevated regions of California's mountain ranges, encompasses numerous facilities and extensive waterways, all regulated under multiple licenses from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Position Summary

Flexible headquarters throughout the PG&E Power Generation service area.

Hybrid Work Model: 25%-30% fieldwork, 25%-30% office work, 40%-50% remote (must reside in California).

PG&E is providing a salary range that reflects the company's good faith estimate for this position at the time of posting. This compensation range is specific to the job's locality. The actual salary will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. While we anticipate that the successful candidate will be placed around the midpoint or entry level of the range, decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Salary Range:

Bay Area Minimum: $122,000

Bay Area Maximum: $194,000

California Minimum: $116,000

California Maximum: $184,000

  • Collaborate with Asset Management to establish a Hydro Asset Inspection Coordination Program.
  • Lead and build cross-functional teams (including ATS, Engineering, SMEs, Operations) to create technically sound and comprehensive asset inspection programs.
  • Coordinate and manage asset inspection requirements and protocols.
  • Draft contract specifications for Hydro asset inspections.
  • Develop and oversee contracts for asset inspection services.
  • Create and deliver training for contract inspectors and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that inspection contractors provide thorough and high-quality reports.
  • Plan and align inspection strategies with Area leadership, Outage Planning, and Outage Management.
  • Ensure that inspection outcomes necessitating corrective actions are documented in SAP for resolution.
  • Coordinate with SAP WM H1 notification Maintenance Planning department for creation.
  • Manage aspects of program execution and operations, ensuring effective program performance. Responsibilities typically include some or all of the following to support Program Management in achieving program metrics and objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with and provide guidance to vendors.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Assess, measure, and report on program success.
  • Identify and nurture strong working relationships with all strategic programs and partners.
  • Collaborate with Regulatory and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to all regulatory standards and assist in regulatory activities by providing necessary information for filings, data requests, and meetings with regulators.
  • Identify stakeholders and facilitate communication within PG&E.
  • Develop and/or implement policies and procedures.
  • Identify new partners, technologies, and delivery channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Report on asset inspections, including updates on progress and upcoming or completed inspections.
  • Ensure that inspection contractors are trained on lockout/tagout procedures and have completed required safety training.
  • Apply extensive expertise and advanced knowledge to a variety of issues.
  • May serve as a team lead and guide less experienced employees.
  • Collaborate with Directors and Managers across functions to influence decisions.
  • Communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences using various media.
  • Integrate industry knowledge related to data into daily business practices and decision-making.
  • Provide guidance on complex industry regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Create new and intricate data models to support business decisions.
  • Provide direction on overall program management.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews and finalize contract drafts.
  • Develop new or revise existing scopes of work to ensure compliance standards and deliverables are met.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business.
  • 8 years of relevant experience or equivalent.

Desired Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification or demonstrated Project Management experience.
  • Experience in drafting contract specifications.
  • Strong contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of claims management processes.
  • SAP PM experience or familiarity with similar computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Proficient in GIS, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneNote, VISIO.
  • Ability to adapt and manage shifting and competing priorities.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to ensure successful implementation of the Asset Management Inspection Program.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Advanced understanding of Program Management principles.
  • Ability to influence leaders both within and outside the department through data analysis, insights, and recommendations.
  • Capability to lead large and complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to construct compelling business cases based on complex business environments and inputs.
  • Adept at addressing issues with diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
