KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Production Oversight: Operate and supervise manufacturing machinery to guarantee correct spacing and piece dimensions as specified by job travelers.
- Data Management: Utilize the EPICOR ERP system to document and monitor material usage, processes, and machinery requirements for each task.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect work outputs for quality during initial final processes, ensuring compliance with specifications and standards.
- Safety Protocols: Follow all safety policies and procedures set forth by Ohio Gratings.
- Skill Development: Participate in cross-training across different departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Ohio Gratings product line and enhance your career. This may involve acquiring new skills such as welding or material handling as directed by management.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand blueprints and technical drawings to execute manufacturing tasks accurately.
- Physical Requirements: Regularly lift weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds, navigate stairs, stand for extended periods, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Workplace Environment: Maintain alertness and focus in a bustling manufacturing setting, ensuring cleanliness and organization in both personal and shared work areas.
- Team Communication: Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, particularly during shift transitions.
- Issue Reporting: Identify and promptly report any quality or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.
- Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor and engage in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing setting, particularly in steel or aluminum, is preferred (2+ years).
- Skills: Competence in safely operating overhead cranes, forklifts, and various hand and power tools. Proficiency in reading and interpreting both standard and metric measurements, along with basic arithmetic operations.
- Physical Demands: Must be capable of lifting up to 50-75 pounds, using stairs, standing for long durations (8-10 hours), and working in diverse weather conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role involves regular exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold. The employee will work on the production floor and is required to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Adherence to safety rules and standards is crucial due to potential exposure to machine and tool hazards.
