Amergis is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Staff Member to join our team. As a Support Staff Member, you will work closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance, providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Implement IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, in one-on-one or group settings.
- Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, such as lesson plans, worksheets, and reinforcement systems.
- Assist students in general education classes and communicate with teachers to ensure a smooth learning experience.
- Accompany students during recess, lunch, and community experiences, promoting socialization and inclusion.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel, such as PT, OT, and SLP.
- Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Participate in behavior management techniques, as directed by the teacher and/or other school professionals.
- Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
- Assist with transfers and ambulation, ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program, as applicable.
- Hold current CPR certification, if applicable.
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successfully complete new hire training, as applicable to the job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
