Job Summary

We are seeking a Strategic Business Leader to join our team. This is a leadership position, working with our Mass, and Pet Specialty retailers in addition to our Retail Distribution network. The successful candidate will lead the sales efforts for our team and be accountable for growing net sales for Elanco and retail sales for our valued customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building Strong Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail partners to drive mutual growth and success.
  • Business Acumen: Possess strong business acumen, with the ability to analyze and understand syndicated data, financial implications, and identify additional opportunities to close revenue gaps.
  • Sales Execution: Track record and passion for executing sales opportunities and holding the team accountable for growth plans.
  • Joint Customer Business Plans: Experience creating and executing Joint Customer Business Plans with our retail partners.
  • Trade and Trade Management: Experience with trade, trade management and efficiently leveraging investments to drive sales.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills, focused on enabling team members to think outside of the box and develop strong business plans.
  • Negotiations: Strong negotiations skills, with a win-win mindset.
  • Revenue Targets: Ability to deliver revenue targets and modify plans with new information.
  • Cross-Functional Teams: In-depth experience operating within and leading cross-functional teams (product management, customer success, legal, finance, marketing, etc.).
  • Resource Management: Effectively manages all resources to ensure we deliver on all levels of the P&L.
  • Team Development: Experience training and coaching team members to increase capabilities and build talent within the organization.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills with great attention to detail.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: A collaborative self-starter and thought leader who drives business forward and keeps our team ahead of trends.
  • Partner Relationships: An entrepreneurial spirit with a record of sourcing, developing, and maintaining partner relationships.
  • Product Sensibility: Strong product sensibility, and comfort with basic operational feasibility of partner integrations.
  • Strategic Deals: Experience developing first-of-kind, strategic deals which are creative and align business incentives.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional presentation and succinct communication skills with the ability to respond actionably to complex issues, both internally at Elanco Animal Health and externally with retail partners.
Requirements
  • Education: BA/BS
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years sales experience, CPG or Pet CPG across a wide range of customers
  • Management Experience: Management experience, training and developing people
  • Sales Performance: Successful track record delivering sales and exceeding targets
  • Data Analysis: Deep knowledge and understanding of syndicated data metrics and data
  • Selling Stories: Ability to develop strong selling stories that leverage data and financials to align objectives and drive growth
  • Presentation Skills: Dynamic presentation skills
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and communication skills; willingness to dig into the details and work with the team.
  • Accountability: Ability to hold team members accountable to commitments and metrics
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Marketing and Sales Philosophy: Knowledge of marketing and sales philosophy and practices related to the industry is preferred.
  • Emerging Technologies: The incumbent must understand and be able to apply new and emerging technologies, trends and regulations that offer the opportunity for increased productivity and effectiveness.
  • Consulting and Persuasion: The incumbent must also have excellent consulting and persuasion skills to identify and recommend strategies, programs and practices for adoption in each of the sales and marketing units.
  • Entrepreneurial Culture: Ability to operate with entrepreneurial culture in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ambiguity and Change: Ability to deal with ambiguity and effectively cope with changing environment.
Work Location and Travel
  • Teleworker/Remote: Teleworker/remote
  • Travel: Travel is required for customer meetings, and trade shows. Estimated at 25-40%
