Position Overview

As an Electrical Designer or CAD Design Drafter at Abbott Electric, Inc., you will play a key role in the computer-aided drafting & design of electrical systems for various projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients, you will be responsible for creating detailed electrical plans, layouts, and specifications that adhere to industry standards and meet project requirements.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
  • Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create electrical layouts, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Design electrical systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Perform load calculations, voltage drop calculations, and other technical analyses to optimize system performance.
  • Select appropriate electrical components, equipment, and materials based on project specifications and budget constraints.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Coordinate with other trades (e.g., mechanical, architectural) to integrate electrical systems with overall project design.
  • Provide technical support and assistance during project implementation, troubleshooting electrical issues as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to electrical design.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, OBBC).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Prior experience in electrical design or a related field is preferred.
