Job Summary:

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review control systems design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure control systems designs comply with all regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational supervision and technical guidance to a team of designers and drafters, administering and directing their work to meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients and other project groups to ensure seamless project execution, facilitating technical discussions and reviewing and approving project deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date skills in Bechtel's Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) relevant to design work, ensuring maximum use and application thereof.
  • Organize and direct the implementation of on-the-job training for assigned personnel, conducting annual performance reviews and career development discussions.
  • Establish and maintain communication with project engineers, engineering supervisors, and administrative personnel within the project, consulting with equipment suppliers, technical specialists, and client representatives as needed.
  • Represent the design discipline on the project, resolving technical questions and coordinating work with clients and other project groups.
Requirements:

Requires a bachelor's degree in a job-related engineering or scientific discipline or specialized courses in drafting, design, and engineering practices, and CAD.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience in design and drafting, with a strong background in personnel administration.
  • Broad knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline.
  • Broad knowledge of 2-D and 3-D computer-aided drafting (CAD) tools.
  • Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.
Market Segments:

Specific experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments:

  • Natural gas processing, including liquefaction and regasification.
  • Coal, gas, or biomass to chemicals such as methanol and ammonia.
  • Petrochemicals such as HDPE, LDPE, MEG, PET, PTA, PVC, and others.
  • Carbon capture and sequestration.
  • Hydrogen value chain, including electrolysis, reforming, liquefaction, transportation, and fueling stations.
