Purpose of the Position:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Advanced Containment Systems, you will utilize engineering principles to develop efficient solutions for process and product development. Your work will span all stages of a product, from research and development to design and manufacture, and final commissioning. You will also be involved in the management of people and resources, as well as the development and use of new materials and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop project specifications with colleagues from various engineering disciplines.
Design, test, and evaluate theoretical designs.
Collaborate with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers to discuss and solve complex problems.
Ensure product reliability and consistent performance in specified operating environments.
Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques.
Produce detailed specifications and outline designs.
Recommend modifications based on prototype test results.
Utilize research, analytical, conceptual, and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling and computer-aided design.
Consider cost, safety, and time constraints.
Work with other professionals within and outside the engineering specialism.

Requirements:
Highly competent with PC hardware and software such as MS Office.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical drafting standards and best practices.
Highly developed skills with Pro-E 3D modeling software, and intermediate skills with 2-D AutoCAD.
Demonstrated understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.
Experienced with defining, performing, and analyzing structures through Finite Element Analysis.
Ability to use hand measuring equipment.

Work Environment:
90% office-based and 10% shop-based work.
45+ hours per week (hours may exceed above to cover production needs).
Sitting: 90%, Standing: 5%, Walking: 5%.
Indoor work environment.
Occasional lifting, fitting, and assembly as it relates to improving product or process performance.
