Electrical Engineer - Embedded Systems

At Associates Systems LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer - Embedded Systems, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for spacecraft and aerospace projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for spacecraft and aerospace projects, including embedded systems and circuit design.
  • Work closely with customers and project managers to ensure that their experiments and payloads meet requirements and are delivered on time.
  • Design and develop electronics and software to interface with customer experiments and payloads.
  • Responsible for avionics design, upgrades, maintenance, and performance, including understanding and troubleshooting legacy systems.
  • Assist with safety reviews and other verification activities.
  • Write software code as required.
  • Produce build packages for vendor quotes and production.
  • Hands-on work such as assembling and testing flight hardware and/or ground support equipment.
  • Plan and/or support environmental testing of spaceflight hardware.
  • Review and offer constructive feedback on electrical/embedded circuit/system designs created by others.
  • Present electrical/embedded circuit/system designs for review and accept constructive feedback.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Work with vendors/suppliers on component selection, manufacturing, etc.
  • Support on-orbit operations, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
  • Stay current on electronic and circuit design technologies and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 10 years electrical/embedded circuit and system design experience with high-specification equipment, resulting in fielded products.
  • Minimum of 5 years developing spaceflight and/or aerospace hardware.
  • Minimum of 3 years project engineering experience.
  • Requires knowledge of digital circuit design, digital communication protocol, logic control systems, and electronic circuit design.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
  • Creative designer with excellent analytical and design skills.
  • Current knowledge of the state of electrical component and embedded system design and use.
  • Familiar with the effects of spaceflight on electrical components; able to correctly select components for spaceflight use.
  • Self-motivated, focused on delivering excellent products on time and on budget.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, with a minimum of supervision, and also excel as part of a team.
  • Proficient in EAGLE or similar circuit design software.
  • Proficient in basic or advanced project management tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with C, C++, and other common programming languages.
  • Experience with analog instruments a plus.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Dependable and accountable, and able to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience outside of the space industry a plus (in addition to space industry experience).
